PBM (photobiomodulation) therapy is a form of light therapy that uses non-ionizing forms of light sources, including lasers, LEDs, and BroadBand Light in the visible and near-infrared spectrum. PBM therapy improves tissue repair, reduces inflammation, and decreases pain. PBM works on a protein in mitochondria known as cytochrome c oxidase to energize ATP (adenosine triphosphate), nitric oxide (NO), and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production.
