What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?

Considered a well-established treatment for a number of health concerns, this form of therapy involves breathing pure oxygen within a pressurized room or tube. In a hyperbaric oxygen chamber bed, the air pressure is increased up to three times higher than normal. As a result, your lungs can collect more oxygen than they could if you breathed pure oxygen at normal air pressure. This oxygen is carried throughout your body by your blood, where it is meant to help in the fight against bacteria and stimulates the release of growth factors and stem cells, which contribute to healing.
